How Central Park was named

Central Park: Harlem Meer

Central Park was formerly the largest railroad yard in the world and was named after its former owner, the New York Central Railroad. The Harlem Meer boathouse (pictured) was originally the passenger railroad station that served the northern end of the yard at 110th Street.
